the castle of the Dukes of Brittany

Just 10 minutes on foot from the hotel, discover the final château on the banks of the Loire before reaching the ocean, started in 1466 by Francis II and continued by his daughter Anne of Brittany. The former residence of the Dukes of Brittany has a special significance for the region's inhabitants as at the time Nantes was part of Brittany. Entirely restored, this jewel of heritage dating back to the 15th century welcomes visitors. Visit it at your own leisure or discover the historical museum of Nantes inside.

The illustrious residence
of the Kings of France in Brittany

From the outside, it’s a fortress with a 500 m path around dotted with seven towers and linked by curtain walls.
Inside, the castle houses an elegant ducal palace of the 15th century made from tufa stone, done in a flamboyant gothic style and sporting the first hints of Renaissance inspiration and buildings dating between the 16th and 18th centuries. The white colour and sculpted refinement of the palace contrasts with the harshness of the exterior walls made of granite blocks separated by shale.
